My Birthday celebrations!...

I have finally recovered from what was literally the best Birthday celebrations EVER!

Wednesday night was a bit of a blur, considering i drunk my weight in alcohol ranging from Jager Grenades to Champagne and Sambuca shots which apparantly finished me off! (everything after the Champagne has vanished from my memory)

And as a music journalist i would comment on the music that night, but i seriously do not remember much of Commix's set... I'm sure it was pretty sick though! I was also up for an after party that night but i the next thing i remember is waking up fully clothed with my bag still wrapped round me and i look outside and its daylight... Oh well, it was still good fun!

Friday night was the one though! I finally lost my Fabric virginity RAM records style! All the DJ's smashed it but personal highlights had to be Critical Music in room 3, Kasra and Ulterior Motive played some mad futuristic beats that can only be described as "tribal, duttyness" (that was my messy state review of it anyway)

Andy C also played a blinding 2 hour set, although we were hovering from room to room during it. But nobody can say a bad word about the Ram records boss! I also like how RAM nights have become a lot heavier, the last one i went to back in February at Matter was a lot more jump up. However this time every DJ played some dark tunes and the variety was brilliant.

My favourite DJ of the night had to be Spor! I had been waiting for this moment my whole raving life! Jon Gooch did not disappoint! It was dark, dirty and truly epic! I do hope nobody took a photo of me during that set as i was pulling the most disgusting bass face known to man! I loved his energy and although his set was at 5 in the morning the whole of room one suddenly had a surge or energy! I also loved his remake of Pacifica, which was the perfect end to his set!

After Spor my legs literally felt like jelly and i pretty much stood still during the final set of the night from Delta Heavy. All in all it was an amazing night and i very much loved our little raving crew!

This week...

Only 2 days until the Birthday celebrations begin! I always love celebrating my Birthday and get REALLY excited about it (more than Christmas) Just got to get all this Uni work out the way then i can relax and get drunk with the people i love...

In true student style i've left my 2000 word essay til the last minute, i am going to be screwing at everyone tonight aha. Also our magazine deadline is this week so our group are frantically trying to get everything finished in time. As soon as Wednesday comes i am going to be so happy!

Thats about it for now, time to get back to work :)

Artificial Intelligence, Blame and The Prototypes... Raygun Youth!

Last night was pretty good despite the lack of people and the crazy weather. The many inches of snow have now been replaced with many inches of water and you know what that means, snow + rain = ICE.

However a few of us braved the conditions and made ou way to Junk for the last Raygun show of the decade! Luckily all of the artists were able to make it to Southampton and non of them disappointed. Artificial Intelligence went with a more deep, dutty set whereas Blame and The Prototypes went a bit heavier with some jump up bangers!

I was especially draw in to the Prototypes set! Their mixing style reminds me of another Shogun Audio DJ with their quick mixes and heavy selection. They might just be another Friction in the making which means its only big things on the horizon for them!

Unfortunately i didn't get to interview any of the DJ's due to the non stop rain, but i'm sure their will be plenty of opportunities in the near future.

The next few days are going to be pretty chilled as im saving all my energy and finances for Commix at Audio next Wednesday and it will also be part 1 of my birthday celebrations. Part two will be in London for Ram at Fabric! Exciteddddd :)
